ABA Rules

Anzsac Basketball Association (ABA) abides by the FIBA Basketball rules, a copy of these rules can be found at http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fc/FIBA/ruleRegu/baskOffiRule.asp there are exceptions that are listed below such as time outs and minimum amount of players etc...

GAME START TIME ON GAME DAY & COURT TIMES


The Games will start promptly at the specified tip off time. ABA will give a late team 5 mins grace until all players are ready, after 5mins, the clock will start and your team will be penalised a point for every minute until your team is ready to play. Once 10 mins has passed and you don't have the minimum number of players to start the game, it will be deemed a forfeit. Only exception to this rule is when anzsac officials are running late.

Due to a large number of players on our free agents list - NO FORFIEITS WILL BE TOLERATED. TEAMS THAT FORFEIT WILL NEED TO PAY FOR BOTH TEAM'S COURTS FEES FOR THE NO SHOW. Captains, you are to make every effort to get fill-in players from ABA free agents listing or elsewhere.

ABA play 40min games, 2 x 20 min halves, with the clock stopping in the last 2 mins of the second half only.

PLAYERS- Minimum allowed is 4 players

Players cannot play across divisions with exception of the Mixed comp.

Players cannot fill in for other teams within their own division

A free agent that plays for the same team twice will automaticaly be affliated to that team

A player must play 5 games with a team to be eligible to play in the finals


UNIFORMS



TIMOUTS

Each team is allowed one time half per half. no time out is allowed in the last 3 mins of the game

FOULS (Team and personal)

Team foul penalty is reached on the seventh team foul.

The maximum allowed personal fouls before a player is disqualified is Five fouls.

Where a technical fouls is awarded to the team. the fouls is recorded under the captain or acting captain of the team.

SCORES

During the season the scores as time expires stands whether there is a clear winner or not. The exception to this rule is during the playoffs where there will be a 5 mins overtime

Finally,

Remember this is a social league, bad sportsmanship will NOT be tolerated, so come and just enjoy yourself
